About Barbara Bloom

 

Barbara is a certified Personal and Pilates Trainer with a specialty certification as a Longevity and Wellness Coach. Growing up in New York Barbara had the opportunity to have Martha Graham and Jerome Robbins as her mentors and studied Ballet with the American Ballet Theater, Creative Dance with Barbara Mettler, and Afro Haitian dance with Jean Leon Destine.


She founded and directed, The Southwest Cooperative of the Arts, a performing arts company which was funded by the National Endowment For the Arts, and acted with The La Mama Theater in New York and The Magic Theater in San Francisco. For most of her 60 years as a performer , master teacher and educator, Barbara has studied Nutrition, Yoga, Pilates, Meditation and Pranayama to reduce stress, increase health and the quality of life. Her degree is in
Psychology, Physiology and Neurophysiology.


Barbara worked directly with Jane Fonda to introduce the first major aerobics programs, and exercise video tapes. She was instrumental in designing and introducing Low Impact Aerobics to the public. Due to a lifelong interest in psychological behavior and health, she began research into the addiction process and worked in the field of both Addictions Therapy and Personal Training for the next 17 years. Her specialty is Dual Diagnosis and Behavioral Modification.


Barbara is a breast cancer survivor who has learned how to live a healthy and joyous life in spite of this disease. Bloom Inside Out is based in Sonoma, California where Barbara currently lives.
